Noise Mapping

When required, we can make use of Datakustic Cadna/A, which is state of the art noise mapping software. It is hugely scalable, and can be used for everything from a single noise source affecting a small area, to complex developments with multiple noise sources radiating over a large area. The advantage of using noise mapping is that whereas traditional hand or spreadsheet calculations are typically used to predict resultant noise levels at a small number of discrete locations, a noise map can quickly calculate the levels at every point over a large area. Typical cases where noise mapping might be used are:

  • noise impact of new sources on the surrounding area- e.g. a new supermarket development with multiple and complex noise sources affecting a large residential area
  • noise impact of existing noise on a new development - e.g. a residential development close to busy road or rail noise sources
