Noise Impact Assessments
A noise impact assessment is usually required to demonstrate that a new development does not adversely affect the noise levels in the surrounding area. This will often be required as part of a planning application, to discharge planning conditions, or to achieve BREEAM credits.
Using manufacturers’ data for the equipment in question we can either construct a computer model of the site, or undertake basic calculations in order to predict the noise levels incident on surrounding noise sensitive properties or at the site boundary, which can then be compared with the results of a noise survey in order to assess whether any noise control measures are necessary.
If we find that noise control measures are necessary we can then provide guidance as necessary, including details of acoustic screening, louvres and attenuators.
